Malton, [14.07.2023] – HMi Elements, the Malton-based specialists in the development of hazardous area computer hardware for the oil and gas industry, proudly hosted a visit from local Conservative Member of Parliament, Kevin Hollinrake. The visit aimed to showcase the company's recent investment in precision engineering machinery, which will facilitate the continued growth of the business.
In March 2023, HMi Elements received a grant from the Made Smarter programme, and with this funding and additional capital investment, the business acquired automation technology which excels in measuring components with unparalleled accuracy, as part of the business’ production process.
The CM machine precisely measures depths, lengths, flatness, and screw threads, which in the past, was time-consuming and prone to errors when conducted manually by humans. One of its most notable features is its ability to automatically store a comprehensive record of each product it measures, data which is now archived with the individual product build record. Previously, this task was labour-intensive and time-consuming meaning that staff can be deployed elsewhere in the business.
During his visit, Mr. Hollinrake – the Conservative MP for Thirsk and Malton and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business and Trade. - was given an exclusive tour of the company's advanced facility, where he had the chance to engage with the dedicated staff members and witness the innovative technology in operation. Howard Gould, CEO of HMi Elements, personally accompanied Mr. Hollinrake throughout the facility, providing insightful details about the company's journey, its groundbreaking products, and its ambitious growth plans for the future.
Mr Gould expressed his enthusiasm regarding the visit, stating, "We were delighted to welcome MP Kevin Hollinrake to our premises and share our progress and vision for the future. HMi Elements has always been committed to delivering class-leading specialist solutions, and this visit allowed us to highlight the significant investments we have made in new machinery and personnel to support our ongoing growth."
MP Kevin Hollinrake expressed his admiration for HMi Elements' contributions to the local economy and the broader world-wide technology sector, stating, "It was a privilege to visit HMi Elements and witness the incredible work they are doing. The investments made by the company not only demonstrate their commitment to growth and therefore value within our local community, but as a global exporter and their contribution to the balance of trade through their high level of exports are also helping put Malton on the map. We are so lucky to have such a wealth of technical and engineering businesses here in the constituency and I look forward to continuing my work connecting local engineering businesses with apprentices”
